Privacy Notice
Prepared September 28, 2026
Ang Barton LLC operates BookCrafter. This notice explains the information used to run our reading archive and reader features. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to crafterlabs@outlook.com.
Information you provide
- Your account: sign-in information handled by our authentication provider, Clerk; your chosen reader name, account identifier, adult-age confirmation, membership, and realm preferences.
- Your reading: books you mark as reading, read, to read, favorites, or unfinished; reading progress, preference answers, recommendations, and votes.
- Your contributions: comments, reactions, reports, artwork, artwork descriptions, credits, permission choices, and messages you send us.
- Your purchases: membership and purchase identifiers, payment amounts, currency, payment/refund status, and dates received from Paddle. Payment details are entered with Paddle; BookCrafter does not store your full card number.
How we use information
We use this information to sign you in, save your reading record, deliver membership benefits, record payments and refunds, respond to support requests, run community features, moderate content, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used.
Your personal shelf is associated with your account. Shelf marks and votes may contribute to combined reader counts and rankings. Comments in shared reading rooms are visible to eligible readers of those rooms under your reader name. Submitted artwork is reviewed privately before any approved gallery publication, which can include the credit you provide. Do not include private information in material intended for sharing.
Cookies, browser storage, and visit counts
Cookies and browser storage support sign-in, saved preferences, and the reader experience. BookCrafter also uses a random visit identifier to count visits and stores visit dates and source information. Hosting and security services process technical information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver and protect the site.
You can manage cookies and local storage in your browser. Blocking or clearing them can sign you out or remove preferences saved only on that device. The site’s visit-counting cookie is separate from your password and payment information.
Services that help run BookCrafter
We use Cloudflare for hosting, storage, and security; Clerk for account authentication; and Paddle for payments and billing support. These services process information needed for their roles. Paddle acts as the reseller for your purchase and handles its own payment records. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy, Clerk’s Privacy Policy, and Paddle’s Privacy Policy for information about those services.
Links to book retailers or other external sites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Some retailer links are affiliate links. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to investigate misuse and protect people or the service.
Retention and your choices
Canceling a paid membership leaves your account and reading history available. We retain information as needed to provide the account and its features, resolve disputes, maintain security, and meet legal or accounting obligations. Records subject to those obligations may need to be retained after an account closes.
You can update supported reader details and shelf choices in your account. Contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information. We may need to verify that the account is yours. Your rights and any exceptions depend on the laws that apply to you. Paddle’s own payment-data requests can also be made through Paddle’s privacy request service.
Adult readers and security
Reader accounts are intended for people 18 and older. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided account information. We use access controls and other safeguards to protect information, but no online service can promise absolute security. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when our practices change and identify the revision date. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
